How 45-foot-tall ‘ice volcano’ in Kazakhstan has formed
Braving cold and ice, people are flocking to the Almaty region in Kazakhstan. The reason? A 45-foot-tall ‘ice volcano’ that formed from spring water oozing out of the icy plain. The ice structure sits on top of a hot spring, which sprays water out of the top like an erupting volcano. It is not actually a volcano, which forms through the eruption of lava, ash and gases, but the buildup of frozen spring water means the structure reaches an impressive height of 45 feet. As such, the tower of ice is sometimes called an ice volcano. https://www.businessinsider.com/ice-volcano-45ft-high-kazakhstan-spring-water-2021-2?r=US&IR=T ............................................................................ #earth #science #nature #education #news
