Because of its controversial content, the film was banned in the UK for over 30 years and was labelled as "brutal and grotesque" in Canada. The film’s "one of us" chant has been famously featured in songs (Pinhead by The Ramones) TV shows (Big Bang, South Park), and films (The Wolf of Wall St).
