The Lesson from Ted Cruz’s Cancun Trip: Never Apologize To The Mob by Matt Palumbo Look, I will be the first person in the world to admit that the optics of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) jetting off to Cancun in the middle of a once in a lifetime winter emergency in his home state of Texas weren’t good. I don’t think any rationale human being would even bother to argue that the optics weren’t terrible. Additionally, Cruz didn’t help himself by offering a series of half-explanations and half-excuses. From a purely PR perspective, Cruz completely and totally botched this – no doubt about it. However, this over-hyped Cruz fiasco is a good reminder of two incredibly important lessons for conservatives going forward. First, if you are a conservative who finds yourself in hot water with the mob for some half-baked reason – don’t apologize. Never, ever apologize to the mob. Second, if you are a conservative opinion leader who sees a situation where the mob is coming for one of ours – don’t help the mob. Never, under any circumstance, should conservative thought leaders do the spadework of the left. Cruz’s transgressions are entirely about optics. Cruz couldn’t do anything more for Texas by staying in Texas. His only sin was entirely one of perception. Cruz, and any conservative guilty of a PR only offense, needs to understand that no amount of apologizing will appease the left-wing mob and their allies in the media. The only real option for Cruz in this situation, once he made the decision to make this trip to Cancun, was to fight back. Instead of offering a series of half-baked excuses and kinda-sorta apologies, Cruz should have told the left and the media to shove it. He should have focused on the fact that there was nothing more Cruz could do from Texas than he could do from a hotel in Mexico. He should have pointed out the absolute hypocrisy of the left – Democrat after Democrat have flaunted their own COVID shutdown regulations. Cruz should make it clear that he won’t take criticism from these hypocrites. If the shoe were on the other foot, and it was a Democratic member from Texas who flew to Cancun this wouldn’t even be a national story. The media would actually be doing the spin for the Democrat – explaining to viewers and readers how overblown the story was and how there was nothing that the member could further do for Texas by staying in Texas. So lesson 1 is never apologize to the mob. Lesson 2, for conservative thought leaders, is just as important as lesson 1: in the event that someone from our side finds themselves in a “scandal” that has nothing to do with actual policy and only to do with optics – never, under any circumstances, do the work of the left by attacking one of our own. This honestly shouldn’t be so hard to comprehend, and indeed I find it perplexing that this lesson even needs to be taught to the folks on our side. The left doesn’t need anyone to teach them this lesson. Not only will they never participate in the character assassination of one of their own embroiled in a purely PR crisis, they’re reticent to even criticize one of their own when their actions ended up killing people (see NY Governor Andrew Cuomo). The left realizes that the job of attacking the left is best left up to their opponents on the right. Too many on our side, however, don’t comprehend this and rush to be the first to “condemn” someone on our side who is guilty of nothing more than offending the sensibilities of those on the left. Almost every single time that Donald Trump said something that the left declared was offensive, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, and a hoard of spineless Republicans would rush to find a microphone or a reporter so they could “denounce” the comments. This behavior was and is as idiotic as it is self-defeating. Ted Cruz should probably have avoided this entire dustup by not going to Cancun to begin with – and someone on his staff should have made the case to him that the downside way outweighed the upside. Once the decision to go was made, however, Cruz shouldn’t have apologized and no one on our side should have piled on. We will never make the left happy. No matter how much we apologize or how often we are willing to condemn one of our own – so don’t bother trying.

US Trade Secretary Vows to Keep Trump's Tariffs on China 'in Place' US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has made it clear that Washington will not change its tariff policy with respect to China in the immediate future. "For the moment, we have kept the tariffs in place that were put in by the Trump administration […] and we'll evaluate going forward what we think is appropriate", Yellen told CNBC. She added that the Biden administration will "look" at whether the tariffs work, expressing hope that China would stick to its trade-related commitments. Treasury Secretary Yellen noted that the government is also evaluating its general attitude toward China, and that there are a spate of issues the White House sees as "unfair practices", including technology transfers and subsidies to high-technology industries. At the same time, Yellen singled out several sectors of bilateral cooperation, such as working together to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic and fighting climate change. Her remarks came after a phone conversation between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping last week, during which the Chinese president emphasised that cooperation was the only choice for the two countries because a possible clash would lead to a disaster for the entire world. Biden, in turn, adhered to his hardline posture on China, berating Beijing for its "coercive and unfair economic practices". The conversation was preceded by White House spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki pledging that the Biden administration would review all national security measures taken by former President Donald Trump, including an interim trade deal between Beijing and Washington signed in January 2020.

#democratinsanity #Revisionism #antiwesterncivilization #marxism Critical Race Theory Is Coming to Your Suburban Community By Linda R. Killian Radicals pushing a Marxist and racist pedagogy called Critical Race Theory (CRT) have achieved their goal of destroying quality education in K-12 school systems in New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco and other large, progressive-controlled cities. But if suburban parents think they are safe from these depredations due to the existing quality of their school systems and parental involvement, they are wrong. CRT has already quietly established residence in affluent suburban communities under the benign-sounding guise of Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CR-S) under the aegis of state education departments, teachers’ unions and the burgeoning CRT industry. For example, in 2018, the New York State Board of Regents engaged the New York University/Steinhardt Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools to develop a “framework for culturally-responsive-sustaining education. As a result of the Regents’ adoption of the resulting guidance document, students and parents in the affluent suburbs in Westchester County, which is immediately north of New York City, are being subjected to efforts to perform “equity audits”, “cultural proficiency training” and culturally responsive educational programs. While the language of CR-S may seem benign at first sight, these programs are based on CRT, an ideology that seeks educational “equity” by uprooting the biases between the oppressors (white, privileged students) and the oppressed (non-white students). The New York State Department of Education gave its blessing to these efforts in its guidance document, available on the state’s website, which has the starting point that our current educational system has failed the diverse needs of children New York’s guideline makes no bones about the alleged culprits of performance inequities and where this is headed. “A complex system of biases and structural inequities is at play, deeply rooted in our country’s history, culture and institutions. This system of inequity – which routinely confers advantage and disadvantage based on linguistic background, gender, skin color and other characteristics – must be clearly understood, directly challenged and fundamentally transformed.” Under the pretext of promoting diversity, students and parents are being forced to accept anti-racist curriculum in subjects from English to math, in which white students are reminded of their white privilege and given dictatorial edicts by their teachers to which no one may object. The rapid deterioration of education quality in New York City is the model: get the teachers union on board with the CRT industry, and then destroy the traditional curriculum of American History, classic literature and learning math by substituting struggle sessions to demean targeted racial or ethnic groups, dictating reading lists of vile “anti-racist” authors, eliminate meritocratic high schools and introduce non-academic and age-inappropriate sexual materials. The mayor and the superintendent of schools intend to eliminate tests to get into competitive schools because insufficient percentages of black and Hispanic students are gaining admission. One Manhattan school sent parents a crude race-o-meter to determine the toxicity of one’s whiteness. It ranged from White Supremacist (the worst) to White Abolitionist (the best). In New York’s suburbs, the efforts to change curriculum are far more nuanced and assume that liberal-minded parents will buy into the programs. That has been the case in some wealthy, liberal communities. For example, Scarsdale, a is a nationally-recognized school system of academic achievement, the system’s administration is contemplating changes in the curriculum to include themes of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). The new emphasis will be on teaching the history of inequality and having students engage with people who aren’t white, including students in third world countries and ex-cons. The administration is benchmarking to the state’s CR-S guidelines. The changes and implementation are openly discussed at school board meetings, without visible pushback. But in Pelham, NY, a more economically and racially heterogeneous community on Long Island Sound, the administration’s strategy was incremental implementation by coopting a handful of like-minded parents and then declaring fait accompli. Adoption of CR-S began in force in 2018 with the training of a small group of teachers, administrators and parents in “cultural proficiency” by the diversity consultant Campbell Jones. Adoption accelerated in 2020 with an “equity audit” by NYU/Steinhardt Metro Center. Equity audits consist of gathering student demographics, suspension data, achievement data, AP course participation by race, and other metrics. The Rye City School District also engaged NYU/Steinhardt Metro Center for diversity and CR-S consulting. In late summer 2020, NYU/Steinhardt made a presentation to the district, asserting that students should prioritize racial equity over equality of opportunity and that differences in levels of achievement, income and wealth are entirely explained by systemic racism. NYU/Steinhardt Metro Center recommended an equity audit and was hired to guide a task force. The Rye City Superintendent of Schools and a Director of NYU/Steinhardt recently distributed sample toolkits to the task force for Anti-bias/Anti-racist (ABAR) work in schools and communities. Among the many “tools” it offers is Culturally Relevant Pedagogy (CRP), which advocates “moving towards collectivist culture and away from individualistic culture.” Realizing that these equity audits and task forces were going to lay the foundation for more radical changes in curriculum and brainwashing of children in ideologies that are antithetical to traditional parental belief systems, parents and community leaders in Rye and Pelham are resisting. They are circulating petitions and demanding transparency from the school boards and administrations. Parents in other suburban communities across the US have formed organizations, like No Left Turn in Education, which achieved massive national membership within months of their creation. Suburban parents reject the notion of being fundamentally transformed by radical outside organizations. Liberal Westchester County is not the only place where these divisive efforts are being forced on parents, teachers and students; it is happening all over the country, in Washington State, Nevada, Maine and Pennsylvania. The suburbs have long been aspirational communities centered around family, quality education and civic life. CR-S is just the beginning of an all-out attack on the traditional values of American family life and of local control over education. Linda R. Killian is a retired financial analyst. --Critical Race Theory Is Coming to Your Suburban Community - American Thinker --https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2021/02/critical_race_theory_is_coming_to_your_suburban_community.html -RETRIEVED-Sat Feb 20 2021 14:40:51 GMT+0100 (Central European Standard Time)

Vaccine Passport Push Exposes the Bullying Authoritarians in Our Midst Just when you thought Covid-authoritarianism (and authoritarianism is actually putting it mildly), couldn’t get any worse, it just did. This week we’ve seen a number of politicians and high-profile media figures promote the idea of mandatory vaccine passports. And not just for international travel. On Sunday, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who, I kid yet not, once wrote a book entitled 'The Assault on Liberty', refused to rule out vaccine passports to allow entry to supermarkets and pubs. 'It is under consideration' he said. While most normal people reacted with disgust to the suggestion that we should need to prove that we’ve been vaccinated for Covid in order to buy half a dozen eggs and a pint of milk in the local Tesco’s, Good Morning Britain’s motor-mouth presenter Piers 'For Fears' Morgan who has played a massive part in stoking Covid hysteria, couldn’t curb his enthusiasm for the idea. That’s right. Morgan wants those who either don’t wish to have a vaccine (their democratic right), or who cannot for medical reasons, to be barred from all public places. And he calls both groups 'covid-denying anti-vaxxer loonies'. Hate speech? It surely must come close. Morgan’s ITV colleague Robert Peston was also banging the drum for vaccine apartheid on his television show on Wednesday. On his programme Peston interviewed Tory backbencher MP Steve Baker and asked him: "So are you saying that you shouldn’t have to prove that you’ve had a vaccine?" Baker answered: "Within the UK, to go to the pub, the theatre… No". To which Peston uttered the words "Why not?" in such a way as if Baker’s opposition to vaccine passports for the pub and theatre was something completely beyond the pale. Baker’s response also triggered Piers for Fears. Got it? Those who don’t want- or can’t have- a Coronavirus vaccine are a ‘menace’. Isn’t this sort of language- calling certain groups ‘a menace’, how Nazi Germany started? ‘Anti-vaxxers’ without ever being defined, are now designated Public Enemy Number One. The new witches to be witch-hunted by once objective current affairs programmes like the BBC’s Panorama. But it gets worse. In his Daily Mail column on Friday Richard Littlejohn went one stage further. He actually out-Morganed Piers Morgan. Supporting the idea of 'No Jab, No Job', put forward by Pimlico Plumbers, he wrote: "If some people don’t like the idea of getting the jab, I wouldn’t force them. But maybe refusniks should have to wear a bell round their necks and sport a sandwich board declaring themselves "Unclean"". Just how appalling is that? It’s the second year of the second decade of the 21st century and we have a national newspaper columnist suggesting the unvaccinated need to be treated like lepers. If people being forced to walk the streets with bells round their necks like mountain cows in Switzerland - and sporting sandwich boards which declare themselves ‘Unclean’ sounds familiar, then think back to what happened in a certain country in Europe in the 1930s. That didn’t end well, and neither will this. Egged on by certain politicians and media figures, Britain is sleep-walking towards fascism, that’s if we’re not there already. All decent people- who value our age-old freedoms- must make a stand against what is going on, before it is too late. The "owning" of Littlejohn in the comments section below his utterly vile piece gives us cause for optimism that people are finally saying "Enough is Enough" to all this bullying.
