STOP AND THINK ABOUT THIS! : I have been explaining this for years to people and they just do not get it! Ice melting and rising sea levels --- It is called BOYANCY... the reason boats float. For those that do not know or understand: ice has a lot of air in it. As water freezes it EXPANDS (leave a flower pot outside in winter), that is why ice floats. The "WEIGHT" of the ice "cube/burg" is the SAME as the weight of the water it displaced. And the VOLUME IS THE SAME!!! The ice cube/burg is BIGGER, but once it melts it is a SMALLER SIZE. I say they are the same because....the ice cube/burg FLOATS, so the VOLUME of water that is displaced is the EXACT same size as ALL the frozen water in the cube/burg once it melts! So the sea level or water level in a glass STAYS THE SAME! And yes, ICE on land melting will add "level" to the sea, BUT DO THE MATH...70% of the earth is already water, and the remaining 30% land...how much of that is covered in ice? "Presently, 10 percent of land area on Earth is covered with glacial ice, including glaciers, ice caps, and the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica." 10% of land = 3% of the earth! So if ALL snow and Ice melted from that 3%, how much will that really add to the 70% water? Not that much, especially since ALL of it can NOT melt at the same time, because it's winter somewhere! Winter in the north/summer in the south. and Visa Versa; so NOT ALL the ice and snow will melt, so LESS THEN 3%!!! BIG FUCKING DEAL!!! Share this with people, help smarten up the STUPID and IGNORANT!
