Podcasts. Ugh! I’ve never liked podcasts, and here are the top reason why, in no order of importance: 1. Unlike the written word, they’re never edited for brevity. Podcasters can drone on and on before they come to a point. 2. Podcasters never ask themselves if their voices are pleasant to listen to. Some voices can be grating on the nerves. 3. Podcasters don’t know how to inflect their voices for dramatic effect. Acting lessons might have helped. 4. Podcasters have no conception of narrative structure. The point they’re trying to make gets lost in the shuffle. 5. Podcasters repeat things they’ve said, in the mistaken belief that if repeated, a point becomes stronger, or more valid. What do you think? Do you like listening to podcasts?
