The Future 70 Weeks (490 Days) for The City of Jerusalem and the People (Daniel 9:25-27) Dr Paul MacDonald RN MA Dipl Intro This prophecy is not historical, it was not fulfilled in part, but is still future. It is one straight narrative. This prophecy is NOT Messianic in nature. The Christ/Messiah in this narrative is NOT Christ the Messiah. One Straight Time Line This is one time line from beginning to end. These are NOT weeks of years, but weeks of days, and when they end, the Great Tribulation Period begins. Daniel 9:25 From the time that the order goes forth to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until an anointed one comes, there will be 7 Weeks (49 days). And for a further 62 Weeks (434 Days) the streets and foundations of Jerusalem will be rebuilt, and the rebuilding will be in troublesome times. Daniel 9:26 After the 62 Weeks (434 Days) the anointed one will be cut off with no help for him. The people of a Prince that will come will destroy the City and Holy Place, and it shall come as a flood, and until the end there will be war until a complete destruction has been made. Daniel 9:27 The Prince (the Assyrian) will make a covenant for a Week (7 Days) and towards its middle he will bring all sacrifice and worship to an end (see Daniel 8:13-14 and 11:32). On the wings of desolation hell cause great destruction until destruction is poured out upon him Understanding This is one time line of 434 Days. It's all about the rebuilding and destruction of Jerusalem before the Days of the Great Tribulation Period begins. The Anointed One The anointed person in this text is NOT the Apocalyptic Messiah, but a future leader in Israel appointed by God to carry out the rebuilding and restoration work. Christ and Messiah is NOT exclusively used for the Apocalyptic Messiah alone, it can be used for others appointed sand anointed by God. The Assyrian The Prince that is Coming is the Assyrian. He is the evil from the North (Jeremiah 6:1). He will trample the Citadels of Judah and Jerusalem (Micah 5:5) and sets up the Abomination That Causes Desolation (Daniel 9:27). Marker for Coming Great Tribulation Period When the 70 Weeks of Days end, the Great Tribulation Period begins. The Restoration and Rebuilding work is the marker that the Great Tribulation Period will come, and the Invasion of the Assyrian is the marker that the Great Tribulation will have already begun. The 1260, 1290 and 1335 Days of Daniel (Daniel 12:7, and 11b-12) by Dr Paul MacDonald RN MA Dipl About the 1290 and the 1335 days in Daniel 12, it states clearly that: From the abolition of the daily sacrifice and, the erection of the ”abomination of desolation", "there will be 1290 days". These are "sets of Days", and not years of days as many have promulgated. The Great Tribulation Lasts 1260 Days Now, we know from elsewhere in Daniel, that the start point of this time period is the invasion of Israel by the Assyrian (Daniel 9:27). Further, it is clear that this period lasts for 3.5 years only, generally described in terms of lunar years, as "a time, times and half a time" (Daniel 7:25; 12:7). Shortened "for the Sake of the Elect Since the time will be further shortened "for the sake of the elect" (Mark.13:20), neither the 1290 nor the 1335 can fit entirely in this window of the Tribulation Period. The 1290 Days (1260 + 30) The Tribulation and The Gathering In Period The 1290 days refers to the 1260 Day Tribulation Period, and the extra 30 days for the beginning of Christ's "temporal judgment" of "regathered" Israel, allowing the extra 30 days for "the regathering" to occur. The regathering in will be in the desert. This is where everyone will be held until the judgement has passed over. The Judgement of Christ On His Return For, initially, those who are gathered are brought "into the wilderness" for the Lord to separate - like "sheep from goats", "good wheat" from "bad wheat", and "good grapes" from "bad grapes", for only those who are "truly repentant" at seeing the risen, glorified and returning Lord, they "might" come into the land of promise. The 1335 Days (1290 + 45) The Temporal Judgement Period With the other 45 days of the 1335 representing "the end of the period" of the "temporal judgment". World at War with Christ on his Return We also must remember, that when Christ Returns, the World is actually not pleased, and they will shake their fist in the face of God, and they will say "we will not bow down or submit", and the Nations will war against God and his returning Christ (Psalms 2:1, Acts 4:25-26,2 Kings 18:35, and Psalms 21:11). Attaining/Reaching the 1335 Day Period This is why the one who "attains" or "reaches" this second number/time period is "blessed", since that person will actually "enter on into the Kingdom of God". Zephaniah tells us that we must seek Yahweh while he lets himself be found, so that we "might" be covered on the day of his wrath (Zephaniah 2:3). This imagery is also found in Ezekiel 20:34-38.
