A lot of tv shows would benefit if they did arc based stories instead of season long stories. Something between 3 and 6 episodes maybe. If they really wanted to, they could still have the seasons while dividing them into arcs. They could have their one-offs in between arcs or at the beginning to set up the story in the background, but way too often, season long stories can drag, especially with filler. Two good live action examples of this are Agents of Shield and Gotham (after a few seasons of each), otherwise you could look at most shonen anime, which makes sense because the shows and anime are often based on comics, which are known for volumes, trades, whatever you want to call it. Although the LA series aren’t mostly original stories/original interpretations.
