I want to get Minds+ but I have a problem with their Terms
Paraphrasing Section 3:
A. You may designate your stuff hosted on Minds to be licensed exclusively to Minds. Links to stuff hosted elsewhere doesn't qualify unless included solely to supplement content that does qualify, as determined by Minds. By designating your stuff as Premium Content, you grant Minds an exclusive, fully sublicensable, transferable, royalty-free, worldwide right and license to use, reproduce, distribute, publish, publicly perform, modify, process and adapt your Premium Content for marketing purposes. You maintain ownership of your stuff.
B. By designating your qualifying User Content as Premium Content, you agree that you will not make that Premium Content available to any third party during the time that it is designated as Premium Content, including but not limited to by posting your Premium Content on another website or social network, at any time during the period in which it is designated as Premium Content. Your User Content will be designed as Premium Content until you remove the Premium Content designation.
C. In exchange for the exclusive license to your Premium Content, you'll get paid accordingly to a schedule.
D. [Direct Quote] "You may remove the Premium Content designation from your User Content at any time by deleting your post. The Premium Content designation will be automatically removed from your User Content if you delete or deactivate your Minds Network account."
E. [Direct Quote] "Minds provides you with access to the Premium Content of other Users for so long as you are a Minds Pro or Minds+ subscriber."
I have no problem with Parts C, D, and E. What I do have a problem with is part A, regarding exclusivity, and expanded upon a little in part B.
Mostly, if I want to put my monetized stuff in other places in addition to Minds, I'm not allowed to, AND as long as I do play by the rules, they can use my stuff for marketing - for which I'm not guaranteed any extra compensation (who knows - they might be nice and offer that up, but they don't have to).
Will they come after me if I don't play by the rules? Probably not, but then that leads to something I've seen lately:
I've seen users posting content marked as premium, that I know they didn't produce. Tiktok videos? Links to sundry artists' work on other sites? This isn't cool guys. You shouldn't be making money off someone else like this. If you have created something, then you are entitled to gain from it.
Now I feel spurred to see the Terms for the public version of Minds...
