https://thenewleafjournal.com/around-the-web-hair-dye-in-japanese-schools/ Many schools in Japan prohibit hair dying as part of their dress code. Underlying bans on hair dying is an implicit premise that almost all Japanese students have naturally black hair, so derivation from naturally black hair stands out. However, some Japanese students do in fact have naturally non-black hair. In a few high-profile cases, schools moved to force students with naturally non-black hair to dye their hair in order to conform with the school's general prohibition against hair dying. Confused? You're not alone. I explore the issues through several news stories, and offer my thoughts on the issue.

https://thenewleafjournal.com/that-longest-year-of-school-finally-ends/ Last year, one of my favorite anime series - My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU! (Oregairu) came to an end. In this spoiler-free post, I examined a passage from the author of the underlying novels, Watari Wataru, about how he felt after finishing his nearly-decade-long project. "It was so long ago when I was in my second year of high school, but now it feels like my second year of high school has finally ended. It was the longest year of my life." -Watari Wataru A very relatable sentiment. The post requires no prior understanding of the show or series to follow.
