People like to talk about how we’re going to have a big industry crash soon, but I have one thing to say about that - the crash is already here and it’s been taking place in slow motion for quite some time now. Have you ever wondered why there are so many “remasters” of last gen games on the PS4 and XBone? It’s not because of easy money because they lack backwards compatibility. No. It’s because these 3rd parties lost so much money last generation making these games that they HAVE to re-release them. They blew a fortune chasing the HD dream on the PS3 and 360 and now they can’t afford to support the newer consoles with original content without going bankrupt. One major flop and even EA could go under. And it’s only going to get worse. And for those who seem to think that PC gaming will be immune to this, have any of you noticed that almost all of the major PC developers are now console developers too? They’ve been infected with the same issues and bad business practices that’s been ravaging the console industry. Yep, we’re all in the same boat here, people. Microsoft made sure of that when they started getting PC developers to develop for consoles back on the original Xbox. Those high end PC games you love so much today would evaporate without the massive console market to back them up, as well as Sony and Microsoft subsidizing them. That is the gaming world of today and why it won’t be around for much longer.
