Despite being unarmed and innocent, Kendole Joseph was beaten, tased, punched, and kicked by two police officers; he died two days later. A federal court just rejected qualified immunity for the officers responsible.
The case doesn't make any change in legal doctrine. But it may be intended to send a message to lower courts.
