Why You Can’t Connect With God

About this Article
In this short article I will share my experience with not being able to connect with God, and as well as Phillip’s (from Torch of Christ Ministry) struggle with this same problem. My hope is that it will help you understand why you’re having this problem and therefore will be able to correct it.
My Struggle
Throughout my twenties and early thirties I struggled greatly with not being able to connect with God. When I would come to Him in prayer things the first and second time seemed like there was a good connection, but around the third time it felt like I was talking to the wall. It felt empty and void of God. I didn’t understand why at the time, and said to myself I’ll try again at a later time. Each time I did this I would go longer and longer without trying, and at some point gave up altogether.
Years pasted until I reached the age of forty-one when the Lord started to call me back by saying to me, “Get your house in order”. Finally I did just that through much work on His end, and another fellow believer in Jesus. Since then I have been all about Jesus, and striving to follow Him by doing what He tells me to do.
Why was I having such a problem before? Let me tell you. It was sin in my life that I wasn’t willing to give up at the time. I was an alcoholic, bootlegging CD’s, having sex outside of marriage, and so on. I was truly clueless to what damage I was doing to my relationship with God. It was not until I ran across Phillip on YouTube telling his story of his own struggle that I understood the damage sin does to your connection with God.
Phillip’s Video
I tried so many times to come back to God and failed. | Phillip Blair https://youtu.be/9avCy47rcZ8
I tried and failed. I got up and fell. I struggled and then quit. And it took my life falling apart before I got serious. Are you ready to get serious about the state of your soul? Do you belong to Jesus or don’t you? Do you want eternal life or don’t you? Do you believe He died for you or don’t you? Do you believe He’s resurrected or don’t you? Do you know where your soul will go when you die or don’t you? Choose repentance. Choose Jesus.
In Conclusion
I will leave you with this. Take inventory of your way of living, and ask The Lord what needs to go in your life. There truly is nothing like having a flourishing relationship with The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Stop letting sin keep you from Them. They love you more than anyone has before or ever will. “Get your house in order” as He told me and King Hezekiah in the days of Isaiah the Prophet. Repent and let Him heal you and change you.
Thank you for taking the time to read this article, and considering the message in it.

This is one of our favorite songs out there. It is a very touching song, and the video tells of the story of reconciliation between a father and his son. We are sharing this video today because we feel someone out there might be truly moved by it, and that it may help bring about forgiveness and reconciliation in their lives. https://youtu.be/u_ZWEO36jok

Our first day in Salvador, we decided to preach at Largo do Pelourinho and share the gospel with all who were nearby. One woman listened to the preaching and was affected by the words. We were able to pray with her and share with her and her aunt about Jesus. It was a great day. Enjoy the video. https://youtu.be/n-ebOWAkMSU
