What is America? In my mind, America is not its government, certainly not its politicians, and not even its citizens. America is the Constitution and the Bill of Rights (which is part of the Constitution). Politicians and officials and service members pledge loyalty to the Constitution, not to a particular government. If a government acts against the Constitution it is not the American government. It is an occupation. It is that simple.
