I see a fair number of Christians on Minds. To my mind, that's a good thing. But I don't want to fly a false flag - I am not a Christian. I am a Pagan, have been for many years. I realize this may be distressing or offensive for some folks, so I want to let people know, periodically, that I am a Pagan - follower of a modern revival of ancient pre-Christian religion/spirituality, specifically - and my spirituality works very well for me, thanks. Due to this, I may express an opinion now and again that is not consistent with Christian dogma. If you find this difficult to deal with, feel free to block me - won't be the first time that's happened to me. If you would like to discuss the opinion, I would welcome that, with the understanding that I am not in need of saving, will not convert, will not receive Jesus in my heart, and am not in the clutches of Satan (who, BTW, from the outsider's POV is a Christian created anti-god, not relevant to or worshipped by any Pagans I know). I will respect your right to believe as you choose - even fight for it, if need be. Do the same for me and people like me, please. That said, if you want to discuss something on the merits, I would welcome the opportunity to hear what you have to say.

In large part, the current moves by the Democrat/Leftist politicians appear to be, at least in part, implementation of what I think of as the Woke religion. This religion fosters exaltation of self as both Deity and Victim - Deserving Victim entitled to recompense and the Superior Savior condescending to satisfy their own self-image by giving other people's resource to the Deserving Victims. All this is, of course, mediated through the good offices of the Godhead in the form of The State. The process that the Woke religion is going through, as distinct from it's dogma, is very similar to the process that Christianity followed in assuming control of pagan Europe and the Americas - gain control of the local center of power, destroy all Pagan holy places, kill, discredit and/or convert the priests and priestesses, desecrate the shrines and then claim them under new names for the new religion, destroy the actual history of the people, mock what they regard as holy, disarm them where possible to prevent anything so inconvenient as an ability to defend themselves, teach their children to hate the old ways and their parents, and eventually organize public executions of anyone who holds to the old ways. A very familiar picture if one knows the history. The Muslims learned a lot from the Christians about this sort of thing, and added their own refinements. Proselytizing religions seem prone to this sort of thing early on as a way of making the survivors converts. This is not said by way of disparagement of modern Christians - that was then, this is now, and the savagery of the early Christians was a norm of the times and circumstances. It is meant to point out the similarity of what the Woke religion is doing now to historical examples, and to suggest that there may be ways to combat this based on what we observe from history. If you know the enemy's tactics and what they might do next, it is a lot easier to forestall them and eventually, defeat them.
