Somebody asked me if I post anything about Summerland
So here's a video of me doing some tests. I'm learning a new programming language while I do this. I already know HTML/CSS, JavaScript, PHP and dabbled in python so its not too complicated for me, it just takes a while for me to really get a "feel" for it. With any sort of language, there's "memorization" and "knowing". If you're just memorizing, you have to stop to think about it and it takes a second for you to pull the words out of your memory banks. If you know a language, the words just naturally roll off your tongue... or fingertips. Once I start "knowing", the game development process will start getting more quicker. I downloaded some free game assets off of https://itch.io/ so I could focus on the mechanics of the game first before I start making the art for it. That way, I can get the coding out of the way, figure out what game elements I need and make the pixel art without having to stop to code. That's what I've been doing and its slowing things down. I want to release SOMETHING playable by the end of 2021. The story is basically about a small rabbit lost in a beautifully surreal world filled with talking animals, and natural beauty that becomes tainted by human greed and ungodly horrors. The story is more complicated then that but right now I want to make a basic 3 level game to use as a baseline. I'll work on incorporating a more complicated story after the first release. I need to talk about Summerland more because I've always wanted to make a game since I was a kid and I'm excited about it on the inside.
