When allowed to choose between working for less or sitting at home for more, people choose welfare every time. The welfare death spiral becomes amplified when even normally productive individuals think "It is not fair for me to work like this while others sit at home receiving a better deal. I should quit working and go on welfare." https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2012/11/it-doesnt-pay-to-work.php

Equality is imaginary. All the affirmative action and diversity garbage disappears the moment government is not there to enforce it.

A zen master gathered the class, placed an empty soda can on the floor, then said, "Someone explain what this is without making a positive or a negative claim. Only see it for its reality." After a long time in silence one student said, "I am certain that can is not made of wood." The master shook his head and said, "No. That answer does not work. I need someone to explain what this is without making either a claim or a denial, only showing its essence." After an even longer silence someone got up, grabbed the can, tossed it in the trash, then sat back down. The master smiled and said, "Very good." The whole class became enlightened.
