So many people turned up here overnight and yesterday evening that it's hard to keep track, so instead of doing a one off list of accounts to follow, I'm going to make this the first of an occasional series - probably a couple of times a week. It's reasonably obvious that Minds is of great benefit to photographers and artists, so to start off, head over to @chris_baker for his fabulous astronomy pics. He has a very good telescope and when the weather isn't shit, he uses it to good effect. On the same theme, @carlbovis is probably the UK's preeminent bird photographer and he is putting up one or two new photographs a day here, with a focus on those Twitter's "default crop" ruin over on the hellsite. Many of you will be familiar with Neil Oliver, the presenter of BBC's "Coast" and various documentaries about archaeology and history. He's @therealcoastguy although he has literally only just set up an account so give him time to populate it with pics of Stirling Castle and his wolfhounds. I've actually had an account here for a number of years but if it weren't for @willmccaffrey I'd have basically forgotten it existed. Will is also a good photographer with a focus on Manchester and environs. Finally, I've now written a couple of pieces for new media startup @lotuseaters_com and recommend you give them a follow. They have a good stable of writers (not just me) including James Delingpole and Carl Benjamin. More in a day or so.

This is also true - check my second post from the top for instructions. [ETA: okay huge numbers of you have turned up since I promoted Minds on TalkRADIO this morning. Please note only the top two posts on my feed are for newbies, after that it’s my usual content. I’m heading to bed now but will do a list of good people to subscribe to/follow in the morning.]
Those of you who’ve recently joined, if you haven’t already, take a couple of minutes to set up your “wallet” on here. You have to provide your phone number, in return Minds issues you “tokens” for free based on your activity - liking, sharing, posting, referring new users etc. The tokens can then be used to boost posts, gifted to others as tips if you like their content, or - perhaps most astoundingly - exchanged for cryptocurrency. Essentially we get paid a small amount for being active on here, which is pretty awesome ✌🏼

Continuing my role as a lawyer explaining law to non-lawyers, here's what's known as a "case note" on the Bell v Tavistock litigation, which concerned whether persons under the age of 16 were able to consent to treatment with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones as part of gender transition. Among other things, the case revealed serious weaknesses in the evidence base for transgender medicine.
