Seeing what tech companies and politicians are doing to Parler is definitely sad. The way the media insidiously crafts a narrative that simultaneously shields big tech from Section 230 liabilities while making small companies like Parler liable for their users’ behavior and beliefs is a scary precedent. But ... unfortunately Parler did have terrible user and data privacy. They did not prioritize this, even knowing they would be a target. This also angers me. Minds is built to be anti-fragile and doesn’t collect data on users. Why would we? The whole goal was to get away from data serfdom and open up better business models, otherwise it’s more of the same. There is still a lot to be done but the key is that Minds has a strong foundation built on open-source software over many years. User-first, community-first ethos with privacy and sovereignty at the top. https://gizmodo.com/parler-users-breached-deep-inside-u-s-capitol-building-1846042905
