My dad was stationed here in 1957/1958. It was a refueling station for bombers. He said they would fly over Russia but deny it. People could go on ride alongs with the refueling aircraft but he never did. He said there were lots of arctic foxes. People would put food out for them. They had to haul water and sewage to and from each barracks.
