The Rosette Nebula

5,000 light-years from the earth, next to a massive molecular cloud, you will find the Rosette nebula. The nebula itself stretches an immense 130 light-years in diameter, and is located near the end of a huge molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way. The mass of this spectacular nebula is about 10,000 times than that of our sun. The 5 brilliant stars surrounded by the gasses, make up the open star cluster Caldwell 50. These stars were formed from the nebula's matter and are only a few million years old. The emission nebula we see is related to the radiation ripping off these stars, charging the atoms in the nebula itself. ......................................................................................... #space #science #nature #astronomy #photography
