WARNING: CAMERA-NERD-TALK BELOW...
I'm planning a big changeup in my cameras very soon.
I feel it's time for an upgrade, and I've been doing research the past 6 months on finding my perfect camera, and I think I might have found it. I'll be stepping out of my comfort zone with Canon the past 4 years but diving into a new eco-system might bring even more inspiration, motivation, and creativity to the table.
That said, I'll be switching over to Fuji's XT-4 mirrorless camera hopefully soon. I've heard nothing but great things about it and it sounds like a perfect hybrid camera for me. Some of the reasons of what I'm looking at this camera are:
-Dual SD card slots
-A back-side illuminated sensor (bsi sensor)
-Dual gain ISO (which provides cleaner images at higher ISO's
-Same great flip-out/fully articulating screen as the canons I've been using
-A small bump in resolution 26 megapixels
-Film simulations from actual fuji film stock
-In-Body Image Stabilization!
-300,000 shutter actuations capability (durable and quiet shutter)
-Durable weather resistant body
-Analog controls and look, filled with heaps of modern tech
-Video capabilities are off the charts with 1080 slow motion up to 240 fps, 4k 24,30 & 60 fps with great bitrates, f-log and film simulations onboard. 10 bit 4.2.0 internal recording and 10 bit 4.2.2. external
That said, I will not completely abandon Canon, because I have a 2nd camera in mind. Canon's full frame R series have just gotten 2 new cameras, and at first, I was super pumped and convinced that i wanted the new EOS R5, but the cost was a bit over the top ($3,800.00 for the body alone), and if I had wanted to invest in the lenses it would have cost me over $12,000.00 just for the body and 3 lenses. Instead, I've been looking at the R6 for my first full-frame camera. I can buy an adapter and use the EF glass I already have to help save money and improve quality from what I'm using now.
I've seen all the reviews on this camera, and the main reasons I'd like to get this is: for the full-frame sensor, the newly-added in body stabilization, and the insane auto-focus & finally proper dual sd card slots. It can also shoot 4k up to 60 fps so it would make a great addition to the fuji xt-4 and still give me the canon ergonomics I'm used to having.
I know gear isn't everything, and it's better to improve your skills, but at some point, your skills outgrow your gear. Making a jump like this will only help bring better quality and more inspiration and I'm pretty excited to see what I can do with these choices.
