The world is hollow for I have touched the sky.
Over the last few days, the only thing anyone can talk about is riot this and social media companies that, getting what was coming to them for their stupidity in censoring the wrong man... Go, Trump... However, did anyone know that America just launched our own astronauts back into space on Space X Dragon Capsules? An American spacecraft built and launched from our soil, not hitching a ride on a Russian Soyuz Our spacecraft and a commercial one at that from a man that wants to settle Mars. Musk has done in five years what NASA couldn't in two decades. Go Elon Musk... Why is everyone so damn caught up one what happens here on Earth? This world for all its splendor won't be so kind to us forever. Now and then the gods throw a really big rock that will end human life on one terrible day. We are wasting time on ancient politics and social trash that means nothing in the end. The universe keeps on turning and ascended beings could care less about what happens here. So let's try something more uplifting and move on. After seeing the Dragon docking with the ISS Alfa. I was overwhelmed with pride. Space is America's again and there is more to come now that the Endeavor Capsule (The name crew gave it) with its more advanced systems have begun their missions on the station. The wheels in my head keep turning, seeing a trip to the moon and elsewhere in the solar system is now within sight. Thinking of the moon and other bodies like it in our system. Also, they are more likely everywhere else in the galaxy. How would we make living on these worlds easier and comfortable? Building bases is fine and all but unless you what to waste millions of man-hours on a small base for eight people on your tax dollars I think we need to think bigger. Much bigger... A planet-spaning one... Paraforming. "What is Paraforming?" You ask... Well, It's basically the same as Terraforming but instead of trying to change the planet or moon's atmosphere to make it more breathable for humans and other Earth life so they can survive on the surface. You instead just dome over the whole planets' useable surface with thousands of miles with massive interlinking domes or a few continental sized domes to cover the surface. That is pressurized and made habitable to all earth life. Think of the 1980's Biosphere 2 on an Uber-Steroids... Why would you need to, why not just change it's atmosphere instead? First off take Mercury for instance... it doesn't have an atmosphere, like our moon, and other moons all over the system. Excluding Titan of course. But if you change Titan's atmosphere with any large amount of oxygen... Then you go out to have a smoke. "You would set the whole moon on fire!!!" Which would be sad, if not a humorous end to the colony there. Which makes Teraforming worlds like Titan a dicey gamble if you ask me. Now there is Mercury it's the second-smallest planet in the system the smallest being Pluto... Fuck you, astronomers union. It has no atmosphere it's also an extreme world. Tidally locked to our sun one side of the world is blazing hot at 400 degrees on the dayside and minus 280 degrees on the nightside of the planet. However, it at least has a fair amount of gravity being lower than Earth's you can land and launch from the surface more easily. It's rocky and full of useful material for any type of civilization. At the poles, we have found water. Enough to help a large population get settled and live there. It's perfect however, living in small madness-inducing modules won't be a big draw for colonists from Earth. So you need to build the big dome and make them larger and larger as time goes on and populations keep growing. This is a good thing. Also, you can make it habitable faster by paraforming the planet in a decade or so. Rather than waiting the hundreds of years to make it habitable as Terraforming Mars would. Also, we still haven't figured out how to make an artificial magnetic field to protect the new Earth-like Atmosphere from being stripped away again or protecting the new life forms the surface from harmful solar radiation that a Magnetosphere protects us from on Earth. You need to do that if you want to sunbathe on Mars and not get killed from skin cancer the next day. With Paraforming you won't have that issue. You can use water systems, Mylar shielding, and localized magnetic fluids to solve that problem. You could even use the rocky soil of the Mercurian world itself to cover your dome reducing one major problem with Paraforming. You would need to perform near-endless maintenance to keep you and everything in the dome from being blow out on the airless surface. This would be something you just need to do. You can do this the tech already exists so let's push it to a world-building extreme. After this viral-induced lockdown, Power-hungry world governments, and crazy death cults in all their forms today... I'm so done with Earth maybe the next world we build might be better one. Anything is better than the last twenty years. So remember and always push yourself to: Build Yourself Today A Better Future. #minds #space #futurism #Paraforming #spacecolonies
