The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized Phantom Shares with a Business Emmy nomination for Outstanding Investigative Reporting of a Business News Story--Long Form and Magazine. It was Bloomberg's second nomination in its then 14-year existence. Gary Matsumoto did all the reporting, research, writing, producing and directing for this half-hour program that went on to win nearly a half-dozen first place awards in journalism competitions.
