How Real Is Fake News? {Updating & Editing jan 5, 2022}
Relax, much of this posting is a Reference Citation with some resources and tools for your own "Astroturf Wars Against Troll farms".

The Sock Puppets from Troll Farms With "Fake Medical News" are discussed in the 2nd Reference video.
With Reference 4 being another video of a repentant Ex Healthcare CEO confessing his past sins and violations with Sock puppets that ended with a patients death. And please note that a part of his penance he still continues to battle various forms of corruption in the healthcare system as shown with his "Tarbell" newsletter {4A}.
Please excuse me for "jumping around" with the Reference Material that is cited here. But I slammed this together by making a Reference Citation from my "Astroturfing Sock Puppets Of Politics" Group {aka Collection}.
And then I wrote this report tying them together to include some resources and weapons for real life "Astroturf Battles", should you choose to take any of them on.
{I am so tempted to paraphrase some of the old television shows lines from "Mission Impossible' . . . but the "Troll Hunting Tools" {8} are posted last, at the end of the reference citation}.
The "Troll Hunting Tools" consist of Software from the Indiana University Observatory on Social Media. A platform that provides tools for identifying automated social media accounts and analyzing misinformation across social networks. But I had to "dig around" for various backed up copies at the Archives Wayback machine to cite the 8th Reference, as their page and tools appear to have gove "404".
But to really "get your mind around "Astroturfing Troll Farms" and how to deal with them, I highly recommend that you read this entire report before running off to check out that software.
For one thing, I have not bothered to use any of the Troll Hunting Software. But I do use and highly recommend reading over the 7th reference, "THE GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO FORUM SPIES".

Anyway, I highly recommend reading this over before rushing off to any of the reference material that I have linked in the Citation. And I am trying to keep this short.
With all of that said;
The first video by Sharyl Attkisson gives some examples and explanations about this "multi-billion dollar fake news industry". Including an accurate breakdown of the fake news of our 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and Googles part in that "fake news" by the Sock Puppets of Politics.
The 2nd video by Sharyl Attkisson breaks down the use of Troll farms and Sockpuppets by the medical and pharmaceutical industries. And also includes some other examples, such as the corruption of Wikipedia and the fictitious medical information that is found there. As well as some of the methods used by drug companies to hire and pay third party Troll Farms to use “persona management software" to post lies, spread propaganda and attack advocates that oppose them. In this 2nd video, Sharyl Attkisson does describe some of the ways in which "they" do that.
Though the methods Sharyl Attkisson describes in the videos {1 & 2} mostly concern the use of "Logical Fallacies", she does not label them as such. But as shown in References 5 that also gives some pointers on how to identify their use of "Logical Fallacies" and "call them out".
Appropriately enough, Reference 5 is titled "Thou Shall Not Commit Logical Fallacies". And that group has done an excellent job of "breaking all of that down".
Additionally reference 6 being a deeper dive into the of Sock Puppets.
The 3rd reference is a report that I had compiled about Sockpuppets in politics. As The 2016 Philippines Presidential Election was "rigged" by Sock Puppets with "Fake News" & the #Whistleblower s prosecuted. And the events there in the Philippines appear to me to have been a "dry run" for what happened {to some extent}, in our United States 2016 Presidential Election.
