When first built in 1897, Lothrop camp was only accessible by water. The original owner, Alvin M. Lothrop, passed away in 1912, and in 1920 the property was purchased by Marjorie Merriweather Post, founder of General Foods and the daughter of C. W. Post. Since then, Lothrop camp, now Camp Topridge was expanded on to become the largest and most elaborate Adirondack Great Camp. This is the boathouse of this magnificent property. .............................................................................................................................................................. #art #photagraphy #nature #education #outdoors

New Jersey police officers are now barred from using a facial recognition app made by a start-up that has licensed its groundbreaking technology to hundreds of law enforcement agencies around the country. New Jersey’s attorney general, told state prosecutors in all 21 counties on Friday that police officers should stop using the Clearview AI app. The New York Times reported last week that Clearview had amassed a database of more than three billion photos across the web, including sites like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Venmo. The vast database powers an app that can match people to their online photos and link back to the sites the images came from. “Until this week, I had not heard of Clearview AI,” he said in an interview. “I was troubled. The reporting raised questions about data privacy, about cybersecurity, about law enforcement security, about the integrity of our investigations.” https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/24/technology/clearview-ai-new-jersey.html?partner=IFTTT ......................................................................................................................................................... #politics #technology #ArtificialIntelligence #privacy #news

The only way the Dems had a shred of a chance of convicting President Donald Trump in the current Senate impeachment trial was by bringing over several GOP Senators on early votes that could start a rockslide towards GOP guilty votes. So what do they do? They insult the Senate. Specifically House impeachment manager Jerry Nadler, who this analyst has had a run in with in the past, told the Senate they were engaged in a “cover up” if they did not vote with him and that the Senate itself was also “on trial.” - On Friday, Nadler’s tone did not sit well with possible swing vote Senator Lisa Murkowski who publicly registered her distaste and signaled her non-happiness with Dem tactics. - Possible swing trial vote Senator Susan Collins was so ticked off at Nadler that she sent a note to presiding judge U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. https://www.lifezette.com/2020/01/democrats-insult-alienating-impeachment-swing-vote/ ........................................................................................................................................................... #politics #trump2020 #leftwingwackos #nonsense #news

Glances is a cross-platform system monitoring tool written in Python. This is a better alternative to the top and htop monitoring tools, as this tool provides most of the information on the single screen; and the best thing is, it’s accessible over the browser. Also, it can be used as client-server architecture where we can watch any server from a system without login to remote server. I guess a picture is worth a thousand words.... ............................................................................................................................................................... #computing #technology #opensource #glances #news
