Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) are a common sight in my neck of the woods, but I don't often see them in the wetlands, especially not perched right where the bush meets the bay. The individual pictured appeared to be alone. We crossed paths several times this morning and this was probably my best photo. Even when I encounter a common species, and in an area familiar to me, I still find myself in awe of the beauty of the natural world. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

As the sun sinks low in the sky a pair of Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) drink rainwater from the fork of a gnarled old Eucalyptus tree. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto

This young Noisy Miner (Manorina melanocephala) is just a few weeks out of the nest. Its downy plumage and curious attitude towards towards every little thing are clear indicators of its youth. Although the parents are still feeding it, this little bird has already learned to identify and catch its own food. Backyard birds. #birds #nature #Australia #myphoto
