Friday Night Lights II~
This shot I am thrilled with because I used my regular everyday 16-35 f4 lens. The lens is not known as a good astrophotography lens. My jaw dropped when I realized how much detail it was able to capture. And shooting at 16mm in portrait mode, I feel the composition improved dramatically compared to my other image. I can't wait for he next opportunity to shoot the Milky Way. What an awe inspiring subject!

Friday Night Lights
Milky Way over the valley at Hyde's Mill. I've been wanting to capture an image like this for several years. Finally all the pieces fell into place with a waning moon not yet risen, clear skies, and just enough of the galaxy core visible yet this season.
The property owner visited with me while I was shooting and told me a lot of his family's history with this dam built in 1850. He said they are still drawing power off the dam today!

A peaceful sunset tonight. Exposure was 3 minutes (or thereabouts). A nice benefit of doing long exposures is it lets you admire the scenery instead of being so focused on image taking. :)
