Reinventing Communism!

We celebrate the achievements of communism, torpedo neo-con arrogance and refute the West's root political dogmas. Constructive critics of Communism are welcome. What we do not need is demonization or moralistic absolutes. Nor do we need a place to huddle and hide from the world while preaching to the choir! We can be, instead, a diverse community, uniting "Left" and "Right" behind a belief in the Power of the People, a place where we can exercise and develop our ability to dialogue, find common ground and hone the intellect. If we judge influence by the number of times a man appears in these forums, then Marx is, next to Hitler, the most influential man ever. These days, I rarely see people invoking Christ, Washington, Lincoln, or Churchill, but Marx pops up everywhere, as the terrifying incomprehensible Demon who singlehandedly destroyed all that is good in America. And how did Marx do this? -- he wrote a book. The book advises the workers of the world to unite and break the chains that enslave us -- yet it is commonly regarded as the recipe for Totally Absolute Totalitarian Tyranny. And nobody finds this contradiction odd or suspect?!

Welcome to the future! Necessity is the mother of invention. It is necessity that led people to communism -- the need to combat the inhuman conditions of the Industrial Revolution, the need to oppose the arrogance of the robber barons, and the need to end their suicidal addiction to war. And it is necessity that prompts us to rediscover and reinvent communism today -- the need to combat the arrogance of the neo-cons, the need to bury their inane stereotypes, the need to breathe new life and intelligence into our political discussions.

Communism is not rocket-science. The communist seeks nothing more than the abolition of the class-divide, so that "we the people" can regain the power to hold the rulers accountable. The aim, in essence, is government of, by, and for the people. To attribute this basic idea to...See more
