Polygyny

A group for those who are interested in or curious about the following position: - The Creator of all things created the woman, and marriage, by taking the woman out from the man, therefore: - A woman becomes part of, and belonging to, the man whom she marries, therefore: - Polygyny, a woman marrying a married man, or a man marrying more than one woman concurrently, does not violate the one-flesh bond of marriage, and is as innocent as any other marriage; however: - A man having sexual relations with another man's wife, or a woman having sexual relations with a man other than a husband to whom she belongs, does indeed violate the one-flesh bond of marriage, and all who do such acts are despisers of God. - The Scriptures of the Creator are preserved entirely inerrant and perfectly translatable from the time of their writing to the present day, and are the final authority on every matter. Some reasons there aren't instances of multiple wives mentioned in the Greek Scriptures are because it is only 1/4 of the Scriptures (not 1/2 as some imagine), and less than half of it is history, which covers less than 1/40 the time-span covered in the Hebrew / Aramaic...See more

Biblically a government has no authority except to enforce the laws God has already made, only carrying out the punishments given by God for man to carry out. Governments have for the last few centuries been becoming more and more accustomed to powers greater than the worst...See more

Interesting: randomly found this in a journal of mine from 2014, yet it was similar to a thought that came to me few days before I stumbled across it: "An attack on marrying multiple wives is an attack on marriage just as an attack on having multiple children is an attack on having children." What I thought of before I found the note was of referring to the Roman laws that were made against multiple wives as "anti-marriage", "marriage restriction", and such like.

One common theme is the assertion that multiple wives cause problems. I would first point out that this is a more fundamental than specific claim. The same claims are made against having multiple children, often word for word: “it causes jealousy, favouritism, strife, and...See more

Here's a quick summary I gave someone on the subject: The condemnation and rejection of multiple wives came from ancient, pagan Rome, and was spread and enforced by the Roman Catholics; then the Mormon cult gave multiple wives a bad name, so that America outlawed it, and most of the world copied America in that evil. Abraham, the friend of God, who kept God's law, married multiple wives. As friends of God, who keep his law, we must stand against the pagan beliefs that condemn those who, like our father Abraham, marry multiple wives.

Basically, multiple wives was as normal as multiple children around the world since the beginning of time (not that everyone did it, of course, not everyone preferred to). Then the pagan Greco-Roman culture developed a prejudice against it. Aristotle said that restricting people...See more

Q: "Where are all the potential wives?" A: The body of Christ exists. The myth that only men want polygyny comes directly out of the absurd invention that banning it is about "women's rights". It's a vacuous attempt to link an ancient Roman prejudice with feminism and progressivism, when by definition they numerically condemn more women than men by condemning polygyny, and to an equal degree.

I have seen more than one person try to say that because marriage is “two becoming one flesh” therefore it doesn’t allow multiple wives. Count them, they say; it’s two, they say. Let’s do some math: Joe has fifty wives, and he decides that he wants to marry Annie; now let’s...See more

Came across a video by someone with two wives (not Christian, some Egyptian variety of paganism apparently). He made a good point that polygyny does not equal a free-for-all, that there are rules in place. He also got it right that the man calls the shots (though he called it a...See more

Polyandry (multiple husbands) is the physical and moral opposite of polygyny, and is worthy of death according to God. "If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman" - Deu....See more
