Pain in the Stomach
When digestive functions are strong then food liquefies into a substance called chyme and moves down from the stomach into the intestines. However, poor digestive function will have food stagnating in the stomach causing bloat and pressure. If the pressure is released into the esophagus then acid reflux will occur. If the lower esophageal sphincter stays sealed then the pressure pushes on the stomach much like squeezing a small balloon. This pressure will eventually cause a herniation. Fix the digestive function and you fix the condition.
1. Heartburn/acid reflux
2. Dull chest pain which can refer to the back
3. Shortness of breath
4. Heart palpitation
5. Bloated/distended abdomen
1. Antacids (drugs that shut down digestion which cause lower tract irritation over time)
2. Surgery (they cut the top of the stomach and wrap it around the lower esophagus)
Since the problems of indigestion were never addressed they continue to worsen with new symptoms. Also the surgery mechanically restricts the esophageal size limiting food intake (food getting stuck in the throat is a common complaint).
1. Identify contributing dietary and lifestyle irritants and reduce
2. Improve digestive function (herbs that improve gastric secretions, enzymes, probiotics, etc.)
