A guy walks into a bar, and the bartender says "we don't serve your kind here. Please leave." Guy is very hurt by this. He thinks to himself "I'm being denied goods or services because of a prejudgement about myself as a person. This is oppression! It must be stamped out! FREEDOM MUST PREVAIL!"
So, Guy goes to the government and gets non-discrimination laws passed.
Guy goes back to the bar, takes the police with him. He walks in and the bartender says "we don't serve your kind here. Please leave." The police then draw their guns, point them at the bartender and say "YOU ARE GOING TO SERVE THIS MAN WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! IF YOU REFUSE WE WILL TAKE YOUR BUSINESS AND YOUR PROPERTY FROM YOU, AND IF YOU RESIST WE WILL KILL YOU!"
