Hello, everyone, it's time for Journal Entry #5 in my ongoing gaming quest. Once again this will focus on Icewind Dale II. This time the review of my adventures will be from the perspective of Mali, the Half-Elf rogue and daughter of Icewind Dale heroes Cabros Ironspur and his wife Thief/Fighter Minx.

But before I begin I'd like to send a big shout out and thank you to Aragmar, an absolutely brilliant writer, who's own work and my conversations with him have been a big help and inspiration to making this Blog possible. Thank you so much for your assistance, I greatly appreciate it. Now on with Journal Entry #%

Ever since I was a child growing up in Athkatla my mother and father have always regaled me with stories of their adventures in Icewind Dale. Whether battling the legions of Reverend Poquelin otherwise known as the Demon Belhifet, or the machinations of the White Dragon matriarch Icara'sacht. I've always marveled at their stories. Yet as I grew older, and became the infamous "Heartbreaker Thief" of Athkatla, I couldn't help but notice an underlying dread in them that Belhifet had left some kind of Legacy in Icewind Dale.

Well, those fears might not be so far fetched after all. Based on everything we've discovered so far it's evidently clear something very big and very bad is going on in Icewind Dale involving this...Legion of the Chimera! When my mother began training me as a rogue she always emphasized that I should trust my instincts. And my instincts are telling me this Legacy of Belhifet may indeed have something to do with this Legion of the Chimera and the Hordes that threaten the Ten-Towns, including Targos.

The party went into the Horde Fortress and I can honestly say after our endeavors in there, I may start paying some visits to the Local temple of the God, Mask, to tithe for his favor. It was the Gods' luck we managed to deal with all those enemies without attracting the leaders.

After cleaning out the foyer/entrance of the Fortress we opened a door to the hallways. One thing I'm really thankful for from my Half-Elf parents is my keen elvish hearing. that's how I, Garrett, and even Dar'Kandra and Terrax were able to pick up on the conversation. It seems Dar'Kandra's suspicions are true. Guthma, the leader of the Horde, is only one link on a massive chain. I overheard a voice that while it sounded female, also didn't sound quite human, and gave me the creeps. I also heard Guthma mention the name Sherincal, that was who Guthma was talking to. I have a bad feeling we'll be meeting this...Sherincal soon enough, and I suspect it won't be pretty!

Slowly we cleaned out the Fortress of soldiers and spellcasters. Gods, those Goblin Sorcerers, Orc Witch Doctors, and Shamans are pains in the arse. And there was the fact the Horde left some rather nasty traps on some of the containers. It was only by Mask's luck that I was able to disarm the traps.

We also made a surprising and delightful discovery! Braston, the ranger, and the beloved of Ennelia...is alive! Thankfully Guthma hadn't gotten round to him yet when we found him. It was a good thing too because we needed to rest and get our strength back.

When we finally faced off against Guthma, the Bugbear proved to be dishonest to the point of delusional! That Bugbear honestly believed he had the Ten-Towns in turmoil and Targos on it's knees. As I said delusional, and we made short work of him and his lieutenants! Once we looted Guthma and his lieutenants for every piece of loot there was we escorted Braston out of the Fortress. Good thing the party went through the outer levels and took down the defenses earlier. So we were able to get Braston out with no problem. I must admit reuniting Ennelia and Braston brought a tear to my eye. Garrett even whispered to me, "We did good here today, beloved, we did much good."

We returned to Targos and got a hefty amount of gold from Shawford Crale. We then got our next assignment, to rendezvous with the Neverwinter troops and put an end to the Legion of the Chimera. But in order to get to them we're going to need to take the airship of one Oswald FIddlebender. The man is a brilliant Gnome and quite the inventor. But I cannot help but think there's something a little...absent-minded about the Gnome. I also have this feeling that we won't be coming back to Targos for some time, as in not until this adventure is over. So we've gone through all of Targos to the various shops selling off what we don't need and buying what we do need.

On the morrow we board Oswald's airship to go rendezvous with the Neverwinter Troops to see about putting an end to the threat of the Legion of the Chimera. Yet even as I lay in bed with my beloved Garrett, I can't help but feel some measure of dread inside me. My mother always taught me from the time she started training me as a rogue when I was a child to trust my instincts. And my instincts right now are screaming at me this is only going to get more horrifying the further on in this adventure we go. We've already seen Half-Goblins, and Demons of various kinds. Not to mention Orcs and Bugbears as well as some Malarites, Trolls, and other nasties. Who knows what else we'll find.

What concerns me more was, in their conversation, Guthma and this Sherincal mentioned an Isair and Madae. The names are elvish and yet...when I hear them I'm filled with this overwhelming dread! I don't know who these two people are, but I'm guessing this Isair and Madae are the leaders of the Legion of the Chimera. That gravely concerns me because I have a feeling they will be immensely powerful. But I shall do my part to maintain law and order in the region and help end Belhifet's Legacy!
