E3 2018 - VENOMOUS SMILES

After wasting hours of my life at last year's E3 sifting through ALL of the video game industry's self-satisfied cum, this year I want to only focus on the positives.

I will solely go over the games that interested me, and leave the E3 cringe compilations to everyone else.

UNRAVEL 2(Available Now)

Unravel flew under my radar, but seeing it's sequel has my interested in playing both back to back.

It looks like a fun, charming platformer that isn't aping a Nintendo property or the more recent Rayman games.

Unravel looks like its own unique brand of platforming.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice(Coming 2019)

This legitimately looks like a fun 3D beat 'em up/hack and slash, and there's a heavy emphasis on fast-paced real-time action.

The concept of the main protagonists' arm contianing a secondary attachment with different uses looks neat, and the new way it appraoches death and rebirth looks intriguing.

I definitely am holding out hope for a free demo so I can see for myself.

NI-OH 2(Coming 2019)

I loved the first Nioh, I bought all the DLC and got nearly all the game's trophies on PS4, if Nier: Automata hadn't come out that same year, it would be my favorite PS4 game.

I'm a little bummed I won't get my sequel starring T.E. Lawrence(made famous by the Lawrence of Arabia film), where he has a similar journey as William Adams, but in the WW1 Middle-East, but oh well.

My hope for this game is to further distance itself from the Dark Souls comparison, and become more a unique style of action game, but who knows how realistic that expectation is.

Thankfully the devs said they'd eventually release a free demo, which is why I enthusiastically bought the first one, so only time will tell.

Ghost of Tsushima(No Release Window Yet)

This one has me a little worried in a way-too-good-to-be-true sort of fashion, but an open-world samurai/ninja game about fighting a Mongol invasion in ancient Japan sounds great.

I think this game needs a public gameplay demo more than anything I've listed here, so I hope Sucker Punch makes it happen!

Daemon X Machina(Coming 2019)

Looks like a dumb-fun third-person shooter, not much else to say about it.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate(Coming December 7th, 2018)

I don't know how they pulled it off, but they managed to bring everyone back, so no one will complain about the roster, right?

There was some worry about Zero Suit Samus getting a boob-reduction, but I'm not a boob-guy, and they powered up everything from below the waste, which is what I like; so basically fuck y'all, I got mine!

They also nerfed Solid Snake's perfect male physique, which is unacceptable because he's supposed to be the clone of a perfect soldier or some shit.

All that shit aside, it looks so good they probably won't have to make another one for tens years.

Devil May Cry 5(Coming Spring 2019)

I don't give a shit about the DMC series, but how often does a franchise completely die, then get faithfully resurrected by the EXACT SAME COMPANY?

It's exciting to see a small segment of the video game industry rediscover that they can make bank giving fans what they want.

If DMC fans can get what they want, then maybe, just maybe the rest if us might get something we've all wanted too.
