Sometimes it is very difficult choosing just two accomplishments out of a lifetime of achievements, but it is always good to take stock: to savour those moment of success. They remind us that life has both good and bad moments to it.
Personally, I have too many proud accomplishments to choose just two, but I will exercise some discipline! :o)
My first one is launching the British Diversity Awards in the House of Commons in 1995. There were just so many obstacles to getting this national award ceremony off the ground, especially for a small business person with only TWO staff! Moreover, as most organisations in the UK didn't understand what diversity was, let alone to compete for awards in it, I thought it would never happen! However, it ran for 12 years and significantly changed human resource management and equality awareness in Britain, especially in large companies and government departments.
My second accomplishment is more personal. I left school with hardly any qualifications, studied for part time A-levels then a long distance degree, in the minimum time possible, while holding down a job and looking after two young children. My ex-husband was in the Air Force at the time and travelling a lot which left a lot of responsibility with me. However, that superhuman effort earned me a place at Cambridge University for my post-graduate! If someone had told me, when I left school, that I would end up there, I would have laughed out loudly.
Those two accomplishments, apart from having my children, taught me the value of self belief, positivity and sheer determination.
Yes, I do have a lot to be proud of, I suppose.
What about you? Let's have them. :o)
