In addition to multiple instances of Open Meetings Act Violations, the City of Amarillo has now, in at least two instances, violated the Texas Public Information Act.
According to the act: 552.221 (d) If an officer for public information cannot produce public information for inspection or duplication within 10 business days after the date the information is requested under Subsection (a), the officer shall certify that fact in writing to the requestor and set a date and hour within a reasonable time when the information will be available for inspection or duplication.
The City has not provided the information within the specified time period for at least two requests and has not contacted Amarillo Exposed regarding when the information will be provided.
Two additional criminal complaints against the City have been filed with the Potter County Attorney's office, in addition to complaints regarding violations of the Texas Open Meetings Act. However, the Potter County Attorney's office continues to fail to investigate the complaints and has refused multiple requests for comment as to why they will not investigate.
The head of the criminal division of the Potter County Attorney's office is Wade Overstreet, who is in a runoff election against Matt Hand in today's primary for Judge for Potter County Court at Law #2.
