I’m against punishment. I believe punishment is not the most effective approach to teach and it is not a healthy—nor intelligent—way to learn anyway. In my opinion, punishment is just another version of promoting and justifying fear, hate, and violence—which I do not agree with. We, loving humans, can do much better than that and now science and education have provided proof of wiser learning techniques.
If we want to experience less violence in our societies, we need to provide new models of solving conflicts to re-educate ourselves and to substitute obsolete patterns. Perpetrating stronger amounts of force, aggressivity, and violence to punish those we do not agree with doesn't work. It never has. That unevolved and dangerous approach stands in the wrong belief that violence is only justified when dictated by those who have enough resources and power to write the rules—definitely, not the lesson I personally want to transfer to my children or to our societies in general…
As I’ve written on other occasions the only Law I am sure I would vote for if I could, is: “Violence, oppression or discrimination are never justified. Our representatives are demanded to solve every conflict by peaceful means only” (Read more here, here and here.)
Love to all! And have a magnificent Saturday wherever you are! Peace! :)
