# 1 Too many SELFIES

So far I haven't seen a lot of this self-obsessive behavior happening yet on minds. Don’t get me wrong, I like them and have them but at this point, at least on Facebook, they were making me hate the guy who invented the camera. Especially the people who would post them daily, sometimes twice a day. If this starts happening on MINDS, people, once a month is sufficient. Maybe every six months would be better. Let some mystery build up about yourself and then surprise the viewer. I don't need to see your face every hour or day or every other day. Unless you got a new hairstyle, dyed your hair Gitter Gold or shaved your head completely, I'm not interested. And if you're going to do these constantly, especially for males over 40, please try to keep at least two feet away from the camera. Seeing every blackhead filled poor and nose hair on your face is a little too much digital intimacy for my taste. To me, the whole selfi thing seems like a new sort of mental disorder. I heard of loving yourself, but wow! At least make some screwed up faces to make them a little more entertaining; maybe light a small fire on your head or cover your face with cheese wiz, something other than that same serious or semi-smiling face! There's an invention as old as time itself you probably have right in your bathroom that will cure this obsession you've developed with yourself, it's called a mirror, use it. This brings us to number two.

# 2 Pet obsession pics

I know we all love our pets. I get that. But I’ve known people on Facebook to take this over-posting of their pets to disturbing levels to the point of celebrating birthdays. Listen, I’ve seen your pet bark. I know he’s cute. I’ve seen him bark and look at the window, again he's still cute. I saw him bark last month as well, guess what, he's still cute. Now I know his Birthday and his favorite meal. That's enough. Maybe if we try teaching the pet some magic tricks like him grabbing the camera out of your hand before you post another meaningless picture or video. That would be worth my viewing time. Which brings me to

Animals loving each other in general post.

Not to sound like a total shit bag, but there's something about seeing these type of animals loving each other post's over and over that bother me. Maybe it's because animals can apparently show love easier, a concept that humans, who are supposed to be intelligent beings can't seem to grasp yet. Yeah, there's something about seeing these post that remind me just how much of a universal reject human beings can be at times.

Let's see, animals are cute, humans aren't.

Animals kill for food and protection. Humans kill for green paper stuff and pleasure.

Animals are filled with unconditional love. Humans are filled with unconditional Hate.

 Animals 10, humans 0.

It's cute to see a dog and a pig loving each other but to be followed by a human blowing a person away with a shotgun or decapitating someone live on camera. I'm not sure that's healthy for the mind and it also backs up my humans are doushbags theory.

For the record Posting Animals doing cool stuff like riding skateboards, singing operas, playing piano, using chopsticks, climbing ladders, driving cars, speaking German, doing acrobatics is all great stuff. Keep it up.

 Let's move on.

# 4 HUMAN INJURIES.

I never understood why people post this stuff. Every time someone scrapes a knee or get ’s a minor bruise stubs a toe, get a rash or insect bite  BAM! There goes a pic of it on Facebook. Listen, for any future injury posters on Minds, I know what a bruise looks like. I've had plenty of them riding my bike around in the 70's. I can't understand why people would think I would want to see any more of them as an adult. Please no more of this, and this goes for hospital visits or the depressing daily progression reports of relatives dying in hospitals. Can't anything be sacred and personal anymore! I believe a lot of this stuff is for self-attention and sympathy likes. Unless you have an eyeball hanging out of your head or maybe a fork stuck in your hand or perhaps you just cut your penis off with a chainsaw, you then get a pic of you finding the penis, then riding to the hospital to successfully have it sewn back on. If it’s something entertaining in this ballpark great, otherwise, I don't want to see any more of these minor abrasions.

Speaking of self-pity

#5 The post to get shares for share's sake post

I hope Minds peeps never start posting memes that say, 'Like and share' for real obvious decent human things. For example, "Like and share if you love your Mom", or "Like and share if you hate Cancer, or Like and share this for good luck". You know things like, "Like and share if you wipe your ass after you take a shit". Stuff like this. I forbid you by Odens Hands from this becoming a thing on Minds.

While we're on this subject here's a few more of these post types I hope never make their way to minds.

The beg for my attention post: 'Tell me how you met me?" or " Tell me what you like about me."

The guilt me post: 'I bet you won’t post this for school bullying'

The dare me post: -'Let's see how many of my friends post this for the troops'

Let's include any personality or profile surveys like 'What Rockstar I would look like in another life' and or any post that requires some forced action on my part after I read them.

 Moving on to number six.

# 6  Over posting of Steak Dinners or any meal pics:

I’ve been guilty of this one or twice. I think around the year of 2011 and maybe a few times in 2013 but I don’t get it. Why do people feel the need to constantly show people what they're about to eat? I can’t eat it and all you’re doing is making me want to eat your dinner. Looks tasty. I hope you enjoy it. Maybe If you show me a picture of the meal than the shit you took after the meal especially if it involves a lot of meat eating that would be entertaining to a certain degree but just the food? Hopefully, I’ll be seeing some of that myself sometime during the day.

Actually, scratch that first idea.

On the flip side, if you happen to be eating live scorpions, any kind of eyeballs, fire ants, dirt, dog treats and for the hell of it any laundry products. Why not, let's keep the Tide Pod trend going. Maybe we could add an appetizer and dessert. Start off with some Miracle grow, the Tide Pods for the main course and top it off with some Silly Putty. While we're at it why not add a side order of Spackle. This is all perfectly acceptable posting and encouraged. You really can't beat this stuff, it's entertainment gold.

#7 Vacations pics.

I remember back in a long lost time before social media people would send postcards to each other if they went on vacations to far off lands, and that was rare. You’d get it as a surprise in the mail. You would usually smile for the person and your imagination would run wild with images of them and maybe of you one day traveling where they were. There would be a nice brief written description of their time and a miss you or friendly gesture and that would be it. Today I get to see the pre-trip planning, packing up, sock choices, suitcases, flight paths, bathing suits, pool views, Bartenders, lunch menus, Tips, hotel room numbers, credit card purchases, there’s no mystery left. If you 're a photographer that’s one thing, but man can’t we just kind soak in the experience without telling the world we are fortunate enough to stand on Mt. Olympus. Can’t you just experience the trip without having to post every detail of every minute to primarily complete strangers?

This brings us to number eight

# 8 The Look at me factor.

Look at me on vacation.

Look at me being successful.

Look at me with my broken leg.

Look at my new haircut.

Look at me at the bank.

Look at me in the bathroom. me me me me me.

This is the big difference between Facebook and Minds so far that really encapsulates this writing.

This has to do with Minds ability to be anonymous. With Minds, you're getting an imaginary perspective of the person. People seem to post stuff about issues, funny memes, photographs, art as opposed to just personal egocentric daily occurrences. Where on Facebook you were forced to be your self so learning later that it was meant for a surveillance tool/data mining operation. It became clear why Facebook pushed for a more personal narrative and did not allow for the anonymous factor. Minds seem's to mimic Myspace in a way absent the ability to change your profile appearance.

I’m not sure how long this is going to last if the platform gets bigger and eventually takes over Facebook. I would think you’d probably wind up with a mixture of real peoples names and identities plus anonymous names like it is now. Which is cool.

There are ups and downs to this. I think on the upside is it gives the user the ability to be a little more free with their opinions and posting in general. I find this to be a positive, especially for creative types. It’s the David Bowie factor where in reality he was pretty shy but once he became Ziggy he let loose. I can relate to this.

On the downside. No one really knows who anyone is talking to or where anyone really is. Sometimes on Minds, I feel like I’m existing in another world. Like an alternate dimension called planet Minds. You get to know people as images and made up names which sort of losses the personal touch. Minds users, for the most part, are existing in a world of make-believe where it creates a kind of cartoon effect to the experience.

But looking at it deeper there's sort of paradox that takes place when the Identity of the person is made-up. I think on MiNDS you're probably getting a more accurate depiction of who the person really is with no filters. The only illusion is the actual face and identity of the person. Where on facebook you're getting a filtered media version of the person. You know who the real person is on facebook but like in life we all carry many illusions around with us when displaying ourselves in a public forum. I think on facebook people shy away from posting anything controversial for fear of getting labeled a freak or anti-government or whatever because people have jobs and those jobs and identities are tied directly to their Facebook account. Don't you know we have to keep up appearances. This produces a more watered down censored and I would say a more sterile version of the person.

The anonymous factor on MINDS leads to a more truthful outcome. It's easier for some to be more truthful about themselves from behind the walls of the shadow than in the light of public perception. The freak flag can fly freely as it does quite robustly on Minds. This is going to lead to more substantial content because the ego is absent from the equation. The hot cheese factor has a harder time dripping in as well.

Take it for what you will. This is all written in good fun, so don't take it all that seriously. I suspect as the platform grows more the more personal egocentric post will come rolling along. One thing is for sure I'm Glad MINDS exist. It's been nothing but refreshing experience and in light of the current trends having to do with Facebook, it's been a necessary one.
