Death Is Such A Thief

Death is such a thief, it steals that which we love.
It takes away the gift that was given from above.
It brings about such sorrow, with pain so much to bear.
Stealing from our grasp someone for whom we care.

Death is such a thief, the loss so very great.
Never satisfied, and its hunger will not sate.
With all the lives that it has taken, in the countless ages,
Writing in the book of death, filling up the pages.

Death is such a thief, it strikes when least expected.
It will take the least important, up to the most respected.
If it were not for our God, El Shaddai, the Almighty One,
It would darken up the sky, and snuff the very sun.

Death is such a thief, stealing confidence and peace.
Forcing grief upon us and not allowing a full release.
It leaves us with an emptiness, a hollow feeling deep inside,
Wondering if we will ever make it, from a pain we can’t abide.

Death is such a thief, but in the end it will not win.
For Jesus died to give us life, on this we can depend.
He gave Himself in our place, and death He crucified.
That we should live eternally, to be forever at His side.
