The first incident, was very telling of her character. To make it easier for you to understand and so I don't have to keep typing "she"; I am going to talk about @DoubleAgentKC as simply, Casey.  Casey had lot's of friends and a lot of people liked her. She was very funny and outgoing but, most of all she talked to or at everyone with the same kind of enthusiasm. But the only person, at the time, who seemed to follow her around was this girl Alice. Alice was a bit of a slow girl, she had some learning disabilities but she was sugar sweet and almost as silent as I was. So sweet and silent that it boggled me why she followed Casey around everyday. I soon found out.

One day our teacher gave us each a turkey coloring page for an assignment around Thanksgiving. Two girls started snickering and making fun of Alice's turkey because she couldn't color inside the lines and used purple on its beak. Casey overheard this and stopped coloring for a moment and just stared at Alice. Then suddenly she frantically grabbed a pink glitter crayon and started making fast circles all over her coloring page. Before moving onto the lime green glitter crayon she slammed the pink crayon down all while humming to herself.

After lunch I remember our teacher madly questioning Casey why she purposely destroyed her turkey coloring picture and, that Casey just stared at our teacher and never explained herself. At the time I didn't think much of it, except that Casey was very strange.

Two weeks later the 2nd incident happened, and I finally understood what the turkey fiasco was all about. While in gym class one day these 4 girls started picking on me really badly because my gym shirt was old and torn. They started calling me dirtball and wellfare baby, causing a few boys to join in. I was just about to burst into tears and run over to the teacher when Casey sprung to her feet, grabbed the bottom of her own gym shirt and ripped it.

I couldn't believe it. She was standing up for me. Without saying a single word she told me and the bully girls; " No, that's bullshit. You wanna pick on someone for a ripped shirt? Watch this!" Just like she silently stood up for Alice by destroying her own turkey picture, to say "Don't listen to them Alice. What they are saying doesn't matter." Without ever saying a word to Alice.

For weeks after this I could only think about how badly I wanted to be the girl Casey had following her. I wanted to be her friend. But the fear of approaching Casey and starting a conversation over whelmed me. Casey intimidated the crap out of me but, now she was also incredibly inspiring to me.
