The all-new Volkswagen Touareg is been promoted to being the flagship model which is gunning for the Asian market (especially China) and Europe, mixing Europen needs with Asian wants that included BOLD styling. The Volkswagen Touareg is a mix of bold appearances whilst keeping humble. The Volkswagen Touareg is a mix that falls flat, and I'll tell you why later on.
Volkswagen's central goal was to overhaul the interior with the latest technology with Volkswagen's new Innovision Cockpit. The dashboard is constructed around VW’s new Innovision Cockpit, which merges a 15-inch infotainment touchscreen with a 12in digital instrument cluster.
The customisable infotainment screen also manages features such as smartphone integration, air conditioning and seat massage functions, while analogue controls remain for the amplification and other "frequently used switches".
Volkswagen second is to gun for the Chinese market's taste, front colossal chrome grill, to give drivers status anywhere they roll.
The Volkswagen Touareg is based on the VWGroup MLBevo platform as the new Lamborghini Urus.
When The Volkswagen Touareg arrives onto U.K roads in Summer 2018 for £50,000 for the base model. It will come with a 3.0 V6 diesel engine with 282bhp and 442lb ft. A second 3.0 V6 diesel with 228bhp and 369lb ft will follow. The Chinese line-up will also include a 362bhp plug-in hybrid that will arrive in late 2019. Possibly to be released in U.K roads in the coming months.
My opinions
Many industries including the film industry want to pander to China. The car industry is no exception. It's a goldmine, there are trillions of profits to reap. The middle class of China is expanding. That means There are products for them in mind.
The Volkswagen Touareg was clearly designed to mix European and Chinese tastes. Europeans don't want grills as big as Everest or features for that mind. The Asian market wants bling. That's why many phone companies sell gold smartphones in Asia, mainly China. Anything flash especially China. They eat this up. On the other hand, when this arrives on U.K roads it's going to look vile. China, I don't know!!
Why I call this the ugliest vehicle of the 21ST century is first does look The Alfa Romeo Stelvio for an SUV in terms of styling. The Stelvio beats it a mile. The previous generation of the Touareg? Of course and a Chinese market vehicle? I'd rather be driving in any other vehicle than Touareg.
If this vehicle was China exclusive I'd be ok. If this vehicle was more optimised for Europeans in mind in terms of design I couldn't care less. Now Volkswagen is been greedy. As I say car companies should go all in or all out. No middle. Since the advent of Tesla, many mainstream manufacturers and start-ups have gone for a minimalist design or I call it dull as dirt design. Volkswagen has gone for a none offensive design. I want more striking decisions in and out. I want new concepts such as it been a six-seater like a Fiat Multipla.
All we can hope is the SUV boom implodes on itself, new start-up car companies emphasise bold, fresh and different ideas on design. Utilising different categories of vehicles such as saloons, pickup trucks/ute's to name a few. The Volkswagen Touareg is going to be successful indeed no matter what critics think so, many companies will use Volkswagen's double-dip idea indeed. So deal with it!!
What do you think new Volkswagen Touareg? Is it a fine SUV or the ugliest SUV of the 21ST-century? I think it's the ugliest design for SUV. The Pontiac Aztek had excusses for it being ugly. Thanks for reading and On That Bombshell goodnight
