A Cautionary Tale!

One of the biggest problems with working in the garden is that you use so many tools that potentially do harm. If you ask my wife she will tell you just how often I would come home from work with a cut... In fact it would be better to list the times I *didn't* come home without some kind of injury!

With that in mind I want to reinforce a warning to you all. If you have any tracks of wiring in your garden be wary of where they are, especially if they run under plants.

I was snipping a perennial Geranium back and managed to snip, not once, but TWICE the cable that took power to my pond. I was wearing my gloves so I didn't even notice it. No shock came through the secateurs.

In fact I only noticed when I came inside to put the kettle on and found it wouldn't work. I checked the lights and they were working... So I checked the circuit breaker and found it had tripped. I looked out the window and saw that my pond wasn't working. *sigh*

I went outside just knowing that I had screwed up somehow. Yep... As you can see in the top image, I managed to cut the cable and spark the house out!

It took me 15 minutes to rewire it up! B-)

So... Be careful what you do with your tools!
Stay safe.
