If this U.S. slaughter is your idea of a "well-regulated militia", I beg to disagree.

Yes the majority of gun owners are responsible and yes we need strengthened laws to identify and reign in irresponsible gun owners, including trigger-happy cops.

Self-policing  is obviously, demonstrably, not sufficient. Many idiots cannot even protect their own weapons. ATF reports finding six hundred thousand stolen guns loose on the streets each year, and no, not in Chicago. Since those are the ones discovered, obviously many more are stolen than that.

About a third were taken in just five states, a fact reported as early as 2013: Texas, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and California --four southern states and California.  As the chart above shows, over 30,000 U.S. citizens die from gunshots. Because adults leave loaded guns lying around, U.S. toddlers and kindergartners kill more people in the US than terrorists

Protect us? Responsible gun owners sometimes do. Police say however that well-intentioned people waving guns in a dangerous situation leave police unsure of who the perp is, and don't get me started on the police themselves shooting unarmed civilians, some of them in the back.
Do you honestly believe that's what the founding fathers or anyone else had in mind?

I repeat:
Yes the majority of gun owners are responsible and yes we need strengthened laws to identify and reign in irresponsible gun owners, including trigger-happy cops.
