Welcome to the new Ferrari 488 Pista. It's a 488GTB now turned up to 11. Now the Porsche 911 GT2RS will be scared silly.
Here are the specs. 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, it packs a 3.8 litre V8 that delivers 711BHP, produces 568lb ft of torque, weights 1,280KG and a top speed of 211MPH.
The aerodynamics of the Ferrari 488 Pista has improved. 20% more downforce at 155mph than the standard 488. The 488 Pista has an F1-inspired S-duct and redesigned front and rear diffusers from the 488 GTE.
The Ferrari 488 Pista brings a first to the table, Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. It uses Ferrari software that could adjust the brake pressure at the callipers, benefiting handling in corners.
The Ferrari 488 Pista interior doesn't have many creature comforts. The glass windscreen is thinner and there is more carbon fibre on the dashboard.
Expect this car to cost around £215k-£230k but, we will find out about the official price when the 488 Pista debuts at Geneva Motor show.
My opinion
Why did Ferrari spill the beans of the 488 Pista? This car should have been kept secret until Geneva Motor show, not a day before or a week before. When the 2017 Ford GT came out, it was a complete surprise. The staff working on the GT had to keep a lid on this car but the payoff was huge. Too soon, Ferrari!!
All of that off the table the Ferrari 488 Pista is my second favourite Ferrari ever made, right behind the Ferrari F12 and right in front of the Ferrari 458. The why?
1) The Pista name. It translates to track.
2) No more ugly side vents.
3) The improved F1-inspired S-duct and redesigned front and rear diffusers from the 488 GTE.
4) Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer - Ferrari software that can adjust the pressure of the brake callipers.
