So I am already looking to the growing year ahead.
I have spent the morning in the garden and my outhouse doing basic work and sorting out my potatoes for planting.
I have a tray of Charlotte potatoes that were left over from last year. I kept a bunch of smaller potatoes in the hopes that they would survive the winter fine and that I could possibly use them to plant for this year.
Well.... Colour me shocked that my plans ACTUALLY worked, yay!
As you can see most of them came through the winter fine. I lost a couple to something, but I have thrown them out now and all that is left is good, clean specimens.
Also, although very early, quite a few of the potatoes already have eyes growing.
Normally these would start to chit around the third week in February, but here I am with this lot already growing like good 'uns!
I'm a little at a loss as to what to do. I think for now, I will leave them as they are to grow out the eyes. Charlotte are a second early potato and so should be ready for planting some time between mid-March and early April.
Its also good that I got a fair few of them as they all seem to only have one eye each! Oh well! B-)
