It Just Works!

Beautifully! A reviewer called it "retina" for the ears. I agree totally.

I'm writing about Apple's new HomePod. I pre-ordered it 2 weeks ago and I was anxiously waiting for it to be delivered all day. I read the user reviews from Australia and New Zealand last night (it was already Friday for them). The rave reviews made me anxious to get mine.

Apple released the HomePod User Guide today and I've read and re-read it. I knew what to do when it was delivered and I already selected where I was going to place it.

The HomePod is surprisingly heavy. It is packaged simply and the only thing I had to do was remove the plastic cover over the top where the display and controls are located. I plugged it in and used my iPhone to set it up. The process is very easy and I did not have to enter anything.

I immediately asked it (via Siri) to play music and it played a track by Carly Simon which I liked, followed with a song by Moody Blues. After that I asked Siri to play the "Dark Side of the Moon" album by Pink Floyd to see what the HomePod is capable of.

As a speaker, it works very well. I have a UE MegaBoom and it easily put it to shame. I don't have them, but others have said that there is no comparison with Amazon and Google's offerings when it comes to sound.

The biggest surprise (for me) was Siri. I have yet to touch the HomePod to control it. I've controlled it completely using Siri, with the volume up and speaking in a normal voice!

I demonstrated it to one of my sons and he was very impressed. I even sent him a text message to his iPhone just by talking to Siri on the HomePod.

I am so impressed and happy with the HomePod that I'm getting another one for our bedroom as soon as possible.
