Mental Contradictions

After thinking about different mental exercises to improve my life I’ve discovered a major contradiction in two different methods. One is the “Law of Attraction” and the other is the Stoic technique of “Negative Visualization.” Here’s a description of the two…

Law of Attraction – The focusing on positive or negative thoughts in the belief that like energy attracts like energy, so therefore focus on the positive to bring positive things into your life.

Technique of Negative Visualization – The imagining that you have lost the things you value most or to think of the worst thing that could happen to you in order to cultivate a deep appreciation of life and what you have.

After sizing up both methods and comparing them I've made a decision.

Considering that I most likely will never become wealthy or ‘hit the jackpot’ so to speak I’m leaning towards Negative Visualization.  It seems to be more reality-based to me and less stressful.  Either that or just discard the two which is another option.
