Male BBC stars face salary cuts as equality row flares

The BBC’s highest earning male stars are facing pay cuts as the corporation battles to contain the scandal over gender discrimination.

Several prominent men have already accepted reductions since their salary bands were made public last summer, with more renegotiations likely after a review into the pay of on-air talent is published this month.

“We haven’t been idle, we’ve done things already,” a BBC source said. “There are a number of people whose pay has been changed in both directions.”
