Any "right" such as life, liberty, or guns, is not a right if it can be taken away by the government for any reason. However, it is incumbent upon each government to protect its citizenry. It is within that ideal that we surrender our rights under due process as part of the social contract. It is vital that these concepts be taught beginning at the primary school level and taught as a critical subject for graduation. If not in the school system than most assuredly at home. Teach your kids and your grandkids, and your brother's kids about the founding, about the principles set forth in the constitution. Make it important. Every child must have a thorough understanding of whats expected at adulthood to avoid having their freedoms revoked or modified. Too many broken children become broken adults who wind up costing tax payers money by filling bunks in jails and prisons. Then after a number of years served, have to rely on governmental aid because they have become a 2nd class citizen. Im not advocating softer punishments, Im advocating some sanity in our sentencing. Is there, ultimatly any solution to this? In the old days when you got out of prison in Texas you got a gold piece, a gun and a horse. WOW.  What do you guys think?
