Body Positivity - The Pitfalls

How much of a lie is the body positivity movement?

Short answer? A lot.

Long answer?  Well I still believe a lot but since its the long answer I guess I'll provide some explanation for it. What is the goal for the movement? No-one knows, all they talk about is deflection. You hear them say you can't judge a person's health by their size, which is true but we can all research and medical research shows that obesity causes the following:

  • type 2 diabetes
  • high blood pressure
  • heart disease and strokes
  • certain types of cancer
  • sleep apnea
  • osteoarthritis
  • fatty liver disease
  • kidney disease
  • pregnancy problems, such as high blood sugar during pregnancy, high blood pressure, and increased risk for cesarean delivery (C-section)

And this is from US department of Health and Human services. So yes a person cannot SEE but they can develop an educated guess about the health of an obese person. They also started this in regards to obese people so what about anorexic people? Shouldn't we celebrate that? Well not according to the body positivity movement who are more than vocal about Plus size models, the removal of the myth of media enforced perfection and other such claims, just never in relation to people of thinner backgrounds.

So then they claim obese means beautiful, trying to make it a statement, trying to make it fact yet they forget an idiom that negates this which we all know, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", translation: Beauty is subjective. So to make the claim that any size is beautiful can be true but isn't one that should be forced upon people to believe and chant like a mantra. Hell I am not attracted to large women and no amount of propaganda will convince me otherwise. Though I have noticed something else coming out of the shadows of this argument, something they've tried to hide but others have noticed, they only fight for fat WOMEN, nothing about fat men.

So when faced with natural backlash about this from both medical professionals and the general public at large they branch out and 'fight' for non white females and disabled ones. I'm sure we've all seen the videos on Youtube and other sites and now they claim that non-white women aren't considered sexy/beautiful, the same with disabled women. Its the liberal agenda once again, to make objective statements about subjective situations.

Then there is the situation that this is always about women, using the claim the women have been oppressed as a reason they fawn over well toned stars like Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt etc and claim "Female Gaze" doesn't exist while at the same time chanting about "Male Gaze" and how its evil. So in their minds, men must bow and scrap to fuck fat women but women can have standards about the men they have sex with, and yet don't see the double standards.

Finally it all comes down to the person in question. To be positive, one must be happy REGARDLESS of the situations they can't control. So at the end of the day, if an obese person is truly happy with themselves they shouldn't need validation from others to make it happen. If said person is lying to themselves and truly isn't happy then the answer isn't to change the world, its to change yourself.
