Though it is far from set in stone, Oprah Winfrey had made public claims that she is entertaining the idea of running for president in 2020.

Earlier, she said, “I thought, ‘I don’t have the experience. I don’t know enough.’ And now I am thinking, ‘Oh.'”

With the election of Donald Trump, she is realizing that someone with no political or military experience can become president and. maybe, you don't need as much experience as previously thought.

No one knows exactly how serious she is about it, though her close friend, Gayle King, claims it was surely a joke.  "You always have the right to change your mind," she said, "but I would bet my first, second born and any unborn children to come, that ain’t never happening.  Never. I’ll say never on this one.”

Of course, only Winfrey knows for sure and there is a lot of time between then and now.  What will she do?  She definitely has the star power.  Her campaign for Obama, alone, in 2007 and 2008 drew swaths of people to the voting booth, providing a “statistically and qualitatively significant increase” in votes for him.  It is important to note that she also supported Clinton in the 2016 race, supporting the "I'm with her" message but never really speaking out on her behalf.  “The reason why I haven’t been vocal other than saying, ‘I’m with her,’ is because I didn’t know what I could say that could actually pierce through all the noise, and the chaos, and the disgusting vitriol that is going on, and actually be heard,” she said in October of last year.

She's now in a position to do it for herself.  If there ever were a time for a popular entertainer to run, now's the time.  She is a spectacular communicator and seems to have incredibly righteous intentions.
